This was a unique take on the retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, it had a plot slowly grabs hold of you sneaking into your brain and grabbing you and not letting go. The romance was sweet and a breath of fresh air. I found it relatable and fun with elements that made me want to keep reading and not put it down. The imagery was vivid and crisp making you feel like you were part of story not just reading it on the outside. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by how immersive this story was, fairy tale retellings are not always my cup of tea but this one had a unique quality that kept me engaged and wanting to read more. I never lost interest and was engrossed in the story and characters feeling fully invested in the outcome of everything happening to them and around them at every moment. But to me honest when you consider that Marissa Meyer wrote this I shouldn't have been surprised.
