I really enjoyed this first look of Gilded, by Marissa Meyer.
I absolutely loved Marissa Meyer's Cinder series, and this story seems to have all of the action and memorable characters that this author is known for. Serilda is a likable character, and I want to see what happens with her next. I love the idea of Serilda being a storyteller, and everyone enjoying listening to her strange tales.
The myth of Rumpelstiltskin has been retold before, but Meyer is putting her own spin on things, in this all new and interesting story. I loved the forest folk and am excited to learn more about them, and the Erlking is indeed a terrifying villain. I like that we meet them right away, so we get a good taste of the world in the first few chapters. This book seems to be darker than the Cinder series, but I enjoyed the spooky vibes and can't wait to meet more creatures.
