I loved this book! I've been a fan of Marissa Meyer since the Lunar Chronicles and I knew I had to give this book a try. Let's just say that I wasn't disappointed!

Meyer constructs a rich, magical world based on German folklore and loosly on Rumplestilskin. I never felt overwhelmed reading the story only excited to learn more and more about the world. The story is a spooky tale and was perfect to read in the Halloween season.

I loved the romance between our two main character, Serlida and Gild. I felt like I was really able to feel their relationship between the pages of the book. Serlida herself was also an easy character to like and root for. I wanted to see her succeed in life and nothing bad ever happen to her.

The novel left me completely shocked at some points and no plot point was off limits! I'd definitely recommend this novel if you like fairy tail and folklore retellings, especially a bit on the darker YA side!
