Another banger!
I might be a little biased because Marissa Meyer is one of my all time favorite authors. But this book was incredible. One of my top reads of the year (I read it in 2022 and I'm just getting around to finally posting this review now whoops). Even so, I still can remember the story even after a few months from actually reading it.
Sometimes fairy tale retellings can feel overdone and repetitive, but I honestly think Marrissa Meyers is a master at this genre. Between this and the cinder series, I find myself preferring her version over the originals at time, (looking at you scarlet).
I have yet to read a bad book by Mariasa Meyer though and this one was no different. I can't wait to see where the characters will go in the sequel. Serilda is such a fascinating main character and I'm excited to see how she handles the things Gilded left her off with.
