I really liked this book! I already love Marissa Meyer's books to begin with and was very excited to read this one. The main character is likeable and it's easy to wish her the best on her adventures. The prologue was an excellent opener and already began to explain this world where we find our story. I love the religion in this story. Whenever the main character is in a bind, the small chance that she can get away is immediately crushed by the king. It's fun to watch her suffer lowkey. This story reminds me of her earlier novel "Heartless' where nothing goes correctly for the main character. I absolutely loved the love interest for this novel, his character is so fun even with everything crashing around them. My only complaint is that the story is a little hard to follow as so much is happening at once. also the logistics of a ghost fathering a human child is a little wonky. all in all I definitely recommend
