Marissa Meyer is known for taking conventional fairytales and adding a twist to them. I was delighted to read the first ten chapters of Gilded, a retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin tale. I found it mesmerizing and full of charm and warmth. The characters were well developed and in the little time I was able to read of the ones introduces, I got a good picture of their importance to the story. The Erlking made me scared and angry and Serilda and her tales delighted me, as did the way she interacted with the children and her father. I am looking forward to reading more.
