I really thought that the setting itself was going to whisk me away as soon as I started reading this book, but in my opinion it seemed to me that this book really relied on description versus plot. I didn’t care about the characters or what was going to happen to them throughout the story. The plot drug for most of the story and I honestly didn’t think I was going to get through this one and found myself skimming a through a lot of the story. Whereas the descriptive setting was very well done, I felt like this was all the book stood on. It didn’t seem to really have much tension or unity in the plot/story. The writing was okay, but I really think that the author needed to focus more on the story. Maybe it was hard coming into this without reading any other books in this series, but based on this one, I probably wouldn’t pick up another book by this author.
