Wilbur Smith does such an incredible job of building such complicated characters, who fight so hard for themselves and their family, yet love so deeply as well. The plot and story was so exciting, so scary, but I really love how Theo finally avenged everyone who had died up to that point and also saved his sister, after "failing" her in his mind so many years before. I really love the redemption we see in the series; they may make mistakes, but they always correct their wrongs. The writing is so vivid; I never thought I would enjoy action and adventure in a book until I started reading Wilbur Smith. I feel like I can see it playing out and I love it! I really did like the characters this go around, and I felt truly awful for the things Constance had to go through, yet also proud of her for being who she was and fighting despite it.
