The book's cover caught my eye, but it was so rewarding to have the opening pages of this book equally captivating. What child hasn't wanted - or tried - to eavesdrop on a parent's conversation or party? I can just picture Constance and her brother wanting to observe the 'wild' activities. Adding to the fun is the the fact that Verity (the children's mother) does not allow herself to be ignored with the excuse that the subject matter should only be between men.
