This is part of a series of books about the Courtenay family. Theo and Connie are siblings. Apparently Connie frequently leads Theo astray, and Theo frequently gets into trouble. The start of this story is no exception. Connie dares Theo to sneak a peek at a neighbor's private party with dancing girls as entertainment. Connie manages to slip away without anyone the wiser and Theo gets caught. This is just the opening pages of this novel, but we get a sense of Theo and Connie's relationship and connection. There was a lot of dialogue and action.
