Seems like this is part of a long standing series about the Courtney family. If you don't follow the series there is some information dumping in the beginning that kind of explains the family connection to the MCs of this book. Theo and Constance are two carefree and rambunctious kids when you first meet but circumstances are about the change their lives in ways they didn't see coming. The blurb gave a bit more information than the excerpt did.
