I loved Katy Rose Pool's first book, There Will Come a Darkness, so I had high hopes for this already. The writing is the same clear, vivid tone I've come to expect from her. Minnow already has my heart (what can I say, I love a scrappy protagonist with questionable morals), and I love what we have gotten of this world so far, both the cool magic system (curse cards!!) and the dark surrounding world of gangs, powerful families, and so on. Can't wait to read more.
