This was an action-packed fantasy novel. I’ve been reading a lot of contemporaries and I wanted a solid fantasy, and this definitely gave me that. In the first 350 pages, the two POV’s are jarring, but after that, they intertwine and everything starts to make sense. I did guess some plot twists, but others really shocked me and kind of came out of nowhere. I feel like Eliana especially is very similar to Celaena from Throne Of Glass. The bi rep was barely mentioned, but it’s the kind of rep that isn’t the main focus of the story, which is just as good as a bi character’s sexuality being the main focus of a story. Overall, this was a cool fantasy novel and I’m excited to see where the rest of the series goes!
