It was okay
I did not enjoy this book very much. I found the characters to be quite annoying, flat, and they did not live up to the reputations given to them. Eliana especially seemed rather unaware or her surroundings considering how many times she was knocked unconscious. You would think the deadliest assassin would be able to detect people trying to attack her without her knowing. I also did not feel very much for the other characters, and some of the plot points were unnecessary or not impactful because of that. I found the premise very interesting, but the book did not quite deliver. It was a relatively quick read, which allowed me to keep reading; however, there was not much to like, at least for me. Ultimately, this book was an okay start to a fantasy series, but I do not feel attached enough to continue on with the other two books after this one.
