Received an ARC from Bookish First, and started reading but after the first few chapters I ended up skimming the story. The world building was interesting, and I was super excited about the focus on female lead characters.

The book blurb promised a "connection" between the two main characters, which I quickly deduced (maybe omit it from the blurb) and I just lost a bit of steam while reading. The book is very lengthy, and with the promise of two more titles I just didn't have the heart to give to yet another YA trilogy.

Readers looking for their next series to start after Sarah J. Maas wraps up her Throne and Glass series will want to pick this one up, although it may be lacking a bit of the steamy romance she is know for.
