An intriguing idea for a fantasy. It took a while to get used to the switches back and forth in time, but once I got into it I liked it. It was interesting to read, trying to guess at what turned Rielle into what we saw at the start, and how the two storylines would intersect. I'll be looking out for the next one...have to find out what happens next! It's a very original idea.
I did feel that the 'mature' scenes were kind of unnecessary and shoehorned in, but that's very much my opinion ... I'm sure for other readers they were the best part of the whole thing! I just felt they didn't add anything to either characterisation or to the plot as a whole, they just delayed things and shoved more feelings down our throat.
But overall, an enjoyable fantasy.
