With story-telling abilities like Sabaa Tahir’s and world building like that of Mass’ Courts, Furyborn is a fantastical read about two young queens that are separated by thousands of years. This story is an exhilarating adventure from beginning to end. I found myself wondering along the way how long it must have taken Legrand to write such an exquisite fantasy and couldn’t even let myself dwell on the question before I dove back into the lives of Rielle and Eliana. I loved following both of their journeys so much that I couldn’t dare choose to favor one queen over the other. The characters were so developed, the world building was done with such detailed description that the story felt played out with perfect precision in my mind.

Remy was definitely a spit fire little brother and he kept some parts of the story lighthearted with his imagination and creativity. The characters Ludivine and Audric were sensational side characters but my heart truly belongs to the ever so brave, Simon. We get so much more of Simon and I felt like I was able to grow with his character more, creating a stronger bond that I have with most other male characters. Like most books about royals, there were a lot of politics involved but nothing to heavy that makes the story dull in any sense. The characters keep everything alive and fresh. I felt that Corien was one of those rare characters that comes along that you want to hate but you’re in such awe of him, that you can’t fully bring yourself to that feeling. I wanted more of him in the most hideously delicious way. I truly enjoyed Furbory and cursed myself for waiting so long to dive into this. Well I’m definitely not making the same mistake with Kingsbane and have it on hold at the library already. Might I suggest the audio? It is divine!
