So many people were raving about this book around its release, but I found this excerpt to be standard fantasy, with a dramatic prologue that feels completely unnecessary. You've got fantasy countries, prophecies, magic, lord and ladies, etc...in this excerpt Furyborn fails to stand out from the crowd.
