Not a Favorite, But Wanted to Love It

I really, really, really wanted to love this book. From the get-go, I connected with Frank's cultural struggles and the anti-blackness in the Asian community, etc. But the plot itself left me confused with the romance moving too fast and then nothing happening at all. The change of romantic interests, his father dying - it was discombobulated for me. Frank, himself, was a decent narrator and I concurred with a lot of his struggles, thoughts and experiences but this book overall was underwhelming and did not leave an impact on me. I'm giving this a three stars because I know and understand the work and passion that goes into a novel but also this book did not resonate with me the way I wanted to.
