To start, I noticed that the author, David Yoon, is the husband of Nicola Yoon, and I couldn't help but try to figure out if she had any influence on his writing because he had a way with metaphors that is very prominent to the story and I loved it. Can I also mention that he had chapter headers, like no other YA novel that I have read recently have them and I enjoyed trying to match the titles to each chapter plot.

Alright, so to the actual story of the book, I totally got Frank's issues with pleasing his family and feeling guilty about his lack of responsibilities in the Korean culture. In my story, I also try to please my family in every way and try to be the best Mexican daughter but there are some times where I have to break the rules and make my own decisions in life. Frank's problem had to do with beginning to date a White girl when his parents are set on the idea that he has to marry a Korean girl. He knows not to disappoint them because his sister was disowned by dating a Black boy, so his solution is to fake date Joy– one of the Limbos– in order to please his parents and he himself get a chance at love. And let me tell you...we STAN the fake dating trope ;) Joy has a similar issue and agrees to Frank's proposition, the beginning of a closer relationship between the two.

That brings me to the other point, the friendship in this book is so real and sweet! Q, Frank's best friend. is so supportive yet troubled by Frank starting a new life where he isn't the biggest part of, even though they spend every day after school gaming and role playing D&D. It is so pure that even by the end of the story, both are still holding each other when they have to leave for college.

Overall, the story was so cute and relatable to my own experiences, as well as the topics discussed in this book about cultural differences. They needed to be brought up a bit more to understand the different views of a first generation Korean American. Frankly, I loved the book and can't wait for it to come out so you guys can read it and enjoy it like I did.
