While this book was loved by many, for me it fell flat. I enjoyed the Korean background and family rituals and their traditional practices. However, I didn’t care for the story line. It was slow around the middle and felt there wasn’t a need for some of the foul language. I liked the idea the young couple had at the beginning had but it didn’t work out and it had so many turns and deceit that it didn’t go as planned and just turned weird. I felt it could have been about 100 pages shorter. I felt bad for Frank who was trapped and for his sister who was pretty much excommunicated from the family for not chossing a Korean partner. This author’s wife can definitely write YA; don’t know that he is there yet. Sorry.
