This book was really emotional.
It’s not as simple as I might make it sound. I just don’t want to risk spoilers.

Frank is a high school senior. He falls in love for the first time senior year.

Frank is Korean-American. He says his parents are racist. They don’t talk to his sister anymore because she married a black man.

He loves his parents. He loves his sister. He misses her and he knows it’s not fair the way she was treated.

When Frank starts dating Brit, he knows he has to hide it from his parents. Brit is white. There’s no way his parents would approve.

Frank’s friend Joy is dating Wu. Wu is not Korean and Joy is. Joy’s parents would also not be ok with this.

Frank and Joy decide to pretend to date. It will keep their parents happy and mean that Frank and Joy can keep dating their significant others.

A lot of drama happens. I found it believable.

It got seriously sad and emotional at times. But it’s a good story. I feel like it wrung my emotions out a bit. But I respect that the dramas felt real. I think that’s why it felt so emotional.

This is a book in a series. Give me book two now please. I need to know what happens :)
