It was alright, but not one that caught me up in it
3.5 stars. I think I went in with the wrong expectations and that’s on me.
I liked seeing in the head of a character who’s experience is so unlike mine. I love the fake dating trope, but ended up feeling weird about how it played out.
I had figured out who Q liked, and I didn’t like how that played out either. It felt kind of too late? Like a sort of “shoot I forgot to address this so... here we go ✔️” There wasn’t enough time left to handle that plot thread for me.
I was just overall mehhhhh about the romance here, which was kind of what I was hyped for. I was in the mood for a fluffy contemporary and this wasn’t really that, so it’s maybe a me problem here. It was more a difficult coming-of-age story than a fun romance - so if that’s what you are interested in, I would totally recommend it.
I was kind of expecting something more similar in tone to All the Boys I Loved Before and this was not that.
