This book was enjoyable. After reading the first few chapters, I thought this book would be funnier than I initially anticipated. The main character has a sense of humor, but can also be a little much at times. The humor was fueled by many cliches and stereotypes about gender and race, but I am fairly certain that was the point.

I loved reading about the Korean culture. I also appreciated the introspective and frank discussions on race woven into the storyline. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Frank as the primary character and narrator of the story had the most depth, and I loved watching him learn and grow over time.

While the book started with a humorous feel, it ended on a sad, but hopeful note. I do think the story was trying to accomplish too much and went on about 150 pages too long. At the very end, I wound up appreciating a few of the things that happened, but I still think the book could have been shorter.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are in the market for a novel that is a little more thought-provoking than the average YA novel this one may be a good one to pick up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
