I loved this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me insight into a different culture, and it brought back those intense and wide-ranging feelings from high school.
The writing was beautiful and moving. The characters frustrated me so much at times but it was because I was so invested in them. I so wanted frank and his father to communicate better with each other but it was also so realistic that they didn’t.
I did feel at times that I was not reading the thoughts and words and actions of high schoolers because they were very adult like.
My absolute favorite line from this book: “Laughter is the music of the deep cosmos connecting all human beings that says all the things mere words cannot.”
