I loved that this book is written from a POC male who has parents with very strict ideals that don't forgive spawn for not listening to them. Sounds like my mother who just took away her gold rings she gave me because I am not married yet, I don't have the right job, and I am getting too fat. In the first chapter Frank and G his bestie explain how they hang at the mall around Lake Girlfriend which is basically this fountain they wish on after they discuss their ideal girls. Secretly Frank hides a fact about his girl needing to be Korean because it would make his family happy.

This book is a wonderful read for teens struggling with their identity and race relations. My mother is racist toward the black and LGBTQ community so I totally get where Frank is coming from chapter 1 and on...
