Although not one to read teen romances, I was extremely impressed by this debut novel. The characters were the driving force of this debut. Frank Li and the supporting characters really showed the intricacies of living as an Asian-American teenager. I just loved how witty the dialogue was and how well crafted the conversations were.

The plot itself was straightforward. Not twists or turns. But I actually really enjoyed it that way. Too many YA romance novels try to use plot-twists to entertain and gather intrigue. But Frankly in Love is not just a romance. It's Frank Li's life, and as readers, we are the spectators. Because the plot was straightforward and raw, it was realistic. It focused on the real conflicts, and the resolutions felt as real as it gets.
