How fun, I honestly felt like I was back in tenth grade for a minute there. I am definitely enjoying this book so far. Part-The Big Sick, part-Miracle Creek, part-Fresh off the boat, and part- Kim's Convenience. And I realize those aren't all Korean-centric works but they all do focus a bit on Asian immigration to North America. Specifically, the cultural changes experienced differently between parents' and children since the children pick up the language and culture faster. I enjoyed the focus on parent's high expectations for their children, not only due to their culture but because they moved abroad purely to give their children's greater opportunities in life.

While I don't normally like romance-driven plotlines but it's clear there's so much more here than just the romance. So far, this story seems culturally relevant and timely. It touches on some tough topics but with lots of heart and lots of humor. The first impression sample was around 50pgs and I already have laughed out loud a few times, and smiled a lot of the way... I'm dying to read more, what a tease.
