Normally, I hate YA romances due to their cliches and faint notes of sexism present throughout. However, this one is different since it addresses one of the issues closest to my heart: immigrant culture clash. As a first generation immigrant from an Asian culture myself, I can understand and have experienced much of what Yoon is writing, making it far more relatable than most other YA novels I have read.
