Wish I could Give Categorical Ratings

Its books like this that make me wish there were different categories for each book you could give ratings for. For example, I would give Four Dead Queens 5 stars for a creative storyline, 4 stars for shock factors, and 2 stars for the romance/relationships.

This has happened to be with a handful of YA - but I just cannot stand some of the romantic relationships that develop. They are so unrealistic. I get it...it IS fiction so nothing is actually realistic when you think about it. However, I see the relationships formed in books as the way we are able to relate and connect with the characters the author gives us. I just felt the relationship between Keralie and Varin was too predictable and overdone. I found myself just wanting to jump the cheesy parts to get back into the action of their investigation of the Queen murders.

Lastly, I am SOOOO glad I will never have to read Mackiel enter the scene with the word "Darlin" again.
