4.5 stars. This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions. The first half of the book, I thought I had everything figured out and was starting to lose interest because I felt it was too predictable. I thought it for sure was a lost hero trope. Then I hit page 300 and everything flipped, I had no idea what was going on, but I knew I had been wrong the whole time. The book was definitely unpredictable and the authors writing style made me want to read faster and faster. I couldn’t put it down! There’s so many good things about this book. I wish it wasn’t a standalone, as I’d love to see what happens to the characters after what happened in the last chapter! A must read for anyone wanting something different!
