When I first started reading this book, I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to keep these four communities and queens straight. But then I realized that it didn't really matter and it wasn't as hard as I thought. I also hadn't realized this was a murder mystery until after I read some reviews to check if I should keep reading. There were several things throughout the book that kept me guessing, and some red herrings that had me thinking I had things figured out when I really didn't. Overall, this book is excellent for young adults and adults. It doesn't contain much of the magic seen in most fantasy books, but stretches the imagination. I also enjoyed thinking about the four territories in the context of Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies framework.
