It's sort of hard to believe this is a debut novel. Astrid Scholte's writing is so compelling and seems like she is very experienced. Four Dead Queens revolves around...four dead queens. And Keralie. Keralie is a thief, and gets involved in witnessing the murder of the four queens. Now she must team up with a mysterious boy to figure out what actually happened to those four queens. The ending is absolutely mind blowing. I never would have guessed it. The book reminded me a lot of some books that Agatha Christie wrote.

Although there were a coupled of things I did not quite enjoy (some innuendo of activity, more than enough swearing for my taste, etc.), I think the overall storyline was enough to persuade me that it deserved five stars.
