Four Dead Queens is Astrid Scholte's debut novel, and boy does it pack a punch. The world the author has built is fascinating – it's a world that is ruled by four queens and is split up into four kingdoms. It's a fantasy world that is easy to follow, which isn't easy to write. There are several interesting characters, so we're reading multiple POVs. There's a bit of everything to love in Four Dead Queens, from the fleshed out characters, to the budding romance, from the suspenseful mystery surrounding the murder of the four queens, to this fantasy world that is both science fiction-y and dystopian. I think Scholte did a great job with her debut novel and will be looking forward to more from her!
