Wow, this book surprised me. I enjoyed a lot about it, how the world was formed, the stories of the four queens, and the grand reveal at the end. It just felt that at times, there were a few unnecessary parts that muddled up the story itself.

I enjoyed how the murders were explained before they actually happened. It made it impossible to figure out who or what had killed them, at least until everything was revealed. There was so much that I couldn't catch on to until the very end, and it left me on the edge of my seat.

The ending was absolutely shocking. I like how this book differs from other mysteries in that way, since it made it hard to figure out what happened. I'm intrigued to see what else Astrid Scholte will write!
