It was definitely interesting, but I think my expectations were too high for this book. Also, the description was ocmpletely mis-guided. I got this book from Owlcrate, and in their description of a matching enamel pin that came in the box, they said it was inspired by the magic represented in the book.
EXCEPT THERE IS NO MAGIC. I'm sorry, but they literally talk about science and health and tehcnological advancements. It put me wayyyyy off immediately. Not to mention the storyline was confusing, and then we had 3rd person and 1st person narration.
I did not like the queen narrations, and I felt like Varin's narration would have added a lot to the story. In general, I just can't recommend it or fathom picking it up again. I just...yeah, I really can't give it a better review. PRetty disappointed, especially ocnsider not only did I get it in Owlcrate, I actually preordered it, too, so now I have 2 copies. Oops.
