I'll confess that I was somewhat hesitant to read a book titled 'Four Dead Queens.' While I'll admit I could tell, from the title alone, that it could have a lot of potential for intrigue and fascination...I was worried that it'd be a heavy tale. More than that, I was afraid it'd be one of those stories that makes be become attached to the characters only to rip them away.
...but I read the excerpt anyway, and I am so so grateful I did so. Any trepidation I had for this one is long gone, and now I'm finding myself eagerly awaiting the release date (is it here yet? No. Oh, that's a shame). It just goes to show you two things. First, you really can't trust your first impressions. And second, sometimes it really is worth it to give something a try, even if you're a bit hesitant about it.
