I landed on a 2.5 rating rounded down primarily because I wanted to give up on this one so many times but pushed through it. I did think the concept of the world was interesting and the almost godlike hidden race was definitely intriguing. I look when books shift focuses like this one did, but I felt like the chapters were so short it hindered some character growth development. I also wanted this 600+ page ebook to be about more than a love triangle! All the ground work was there for adventure and fantasy and magic, but page after page just kept coming back to a love triangle in a world where two special beings are fated to be together. So it wasn’t even a very intriguing love triangle. It also may not have helped that I found every single character to be flat, unrealistic, and unlike able. I absolutely didn’t care what happened to anyone which is a hard way to live through a book. Obviously these are just my opinion so if you like urban fantasy adventure with a strong leaning towards a love triangle give this one a try.
