I'm inherently biased against these types of stories where mothers completely co-opt their childrens' lives and struggles for their own gain and make themselves out to be almost a martyr. I'm sure she's very nice and means well, and honestly, parts of the beginning were interesting, but I just can't get into the overall concept of the story.
