Wow this book!
After I saw Tarryn Fisher recommended it I picked it up instantly and went into it blindly. The world Megan Angelo created in Followers is amazing and oddly terrifying. Its pretty dystopian? & I could totally see a community like Constellation being created in our future - terrifying thought!
So Followers has two different story lines, one in 2015 and one in 2055. The first one is following two roommates, Orla & Floss (the names in this one were hard to get past haha) and it highlights their desire for fame and success and the length people will go to today to get it.
The second storyline is with a girl name Marlow, who is living as social media star in a place called Constellation. In the future, people live here and have their lives filmed 24/7. While I didn't enjoy Marlow's storyline as much, it was so entertaining to watch how these stories intertwined and how the modern world was creating this futuristic creep fest.
This was such a relevant, shocking, and well told story. I definitely recommend it and I also completely realize the irony in posting about this on social media...
