I should preface that I don't normally tend to gravitate toward dystopian/futuristic genres, but after reading "Followers," I feel like my mind has honestly changed.

The main character, Marlow, lives in 2051-California where the government = the internet. When she makes the choice to only include the genes from her father's side, as she doesn't get along with her mother, she finds out that her biological father isn't actually who she grew up with.
Then there's Orla -- who doesn't live in the future, but lives in 2015. The book goes into how these two are prominently weaved into each other's lives as the chapters bounce from past to future.

The book explores what I would have expected from an environment where the Internet rules all -- privacy rights and security, the importance (or unimportance?) of social media, honest connection, etc.

Really enjoyed this one.
