Black Mirror fans: consider adding FOLLOWERS to your reading list. The book shows us a world that is eerily similar to our own where celebrities are essentially on tv at all times with the goal of getting more followers. The story bounces between Marlow, living in this reality tv world known as Constellation, and Orla who is living in pre-Constellation. None of the characters are traditionally “likable” characters, but I loved the over-the-too personalities Angelo created in this book. This was the pick for our work’s book club and I’m super excited to discuss with the group. FOLLOWERS is on the surface a fun fiction read, but it is also a commentary on our society’s obsession with social media and celebrity.
