I loved this book—it was part dystopian cautionary tale, part satire, and I couldn’t put it down! It’s told in dual timelines in 2016 & 2051. In 2016 Orla is frustrated with writing silly fluff pieces about “celebrities” for a web site, & makes a deal with the devil to make her roommate famous on social media.
In 2051 Marlow lives her life in front of the camera, as her 12 million followers watch her every (scripted) move.
How these storylines intertwine is fascinating as we see the twisted future of a government-run internet.
There were parts of this book that would have been hilarious (the wedding!) excepthat it was too close to reality to be anything but disturbing. This is a great read!
