This book really reminded me of The Circle in a lot of ways. It similarly showed the risks and concerns of being watched all the time. This behavior is obviously stemming from our voyeuristic society that has been building since the development of social media and has increasingly become more concerning. This book also combines ideas of reality TV and social media and the dangers of this bleeding into every day life in which decisions are no longer personal but impacted by those who are using us for their own agendas and sales. This book alternates timelines and storylines to show the rise of a social media obsessed world that goes from the likes of Twitter and Facebook to being controlled by social media and advertising. This is very creepy and definitely seems as though it could be real in 20 years if we aren’t careful. My biggest critique with this book is that it needed to be cut down a bit. It got a little repetitive and slow in parts and a lot of things seemed unnecessary to drive the plot. Overall, I liked it, but would have been better if it were shorter.
