Unfortunately, while this was a highly anticipated novel for me, I was unable to finish it. I received an advanced copy and while I usually enjoy a past/present flashback timeline, this one felt very confusing. I enjoyed the "past" chapters, but the present was very hard to follow - a lot of things the reader had to figure out for themself, without much explanation towards the how or why. There was clearly some mystery behind what had happened and why, but it wasn't coming together quickly enough for me. I made it about 115 pages into this one, but just couldn't continue plodding through. The concept was unique and had potential, but the execution didn't work for me. It reminded me a lot of the tv show black mirror.
