Orla, Floss, and Marlow share many things, most of all their reliance on followers to maintain the lives they wish to lead. Orla is an aspiring novelist trapped working at a gossip blog, desperate to prove herself in spite of her current circumstances. Floss is working to be famous, even though she lacks any perceivable features that would qualify her to be a star. When Floss becomes Orla’s newest roommate, a plan is hatched between the two of them; gain fame, no matter the price. 35 years in the future, Marlow lives in an entertainment network supervised town, where her every move is broadcast to her millions of followers. Marlow was happy with her televised life, until she begins to realize just how little control she has over her life. As stakes creep higher for each of the women, it soon becomes apparent that public perception has more power than anyone would have realized. The one watching always has an advantage over the one being watched.

Megan Angelou absolutely blew me away with her debut, Followers! The story was full of mystery and surprises that enticed me to read each chapter faster than the last! Followers far outpaces some of its compatriots in the field of speculative technological fiction, and contained characters that I began to care deeply about. Marlow was my personal favorite, though arguments could be made for both Floss and Orla!

You can get your copy of Followers from Grayson House Books on January 14th!

My Recommendation-
If you have been searching for a book with well written female characters and a believable near-future world, Followers would be a great fit! The pacing of the book is really speedy, so it can be read fairly quickly. If you liked The Circle, Followers would be perfect for you!
