A timely book that makes you think...hard!
I really enjoyed this debut novel that looks hard at our obsession with social media and influencers. The plot was well-wrapped and engaging. The characters were well-developed and unique. The voice was poignant, the writing lovely.
I felt that elements of the "twist" (if that's what you want to call it) were fairly obvious, but the good thing about this book is that it is not a mystery. The reveal of the connection of our characters is not the key element of the book; rather, it is about the inherited experiences of people--women, here, specifically--and the online world that exploits them.
This felt like Black Mirror, but with a lighter tone than most of its episodes, and I would recommend it to those who enjoy fictional works that take a harsh, bare look at elements of our culture.
