This book was never able to capture my attention. I’m not sure why this was. There was nothing inherently wrong with it. The writing wasn’t bad; the premise was interesting in theory.
I picked this book up as soon as it arrived, and over the next week or so, I read the first ~20% of it. But every time I picked up the book, I felt very meh about it, and would set it down again not too long after. Every time I picked it up, all I could think about was how many other books I’d rather have been reading. About a week and a half in, I had to set it down, because I had some ARCs I needed to get read before their release. I simply never picked it back up.
I kept meaning to, but I could never get myself to actually do so. And I have no idea why! No matter how much I think on it, I cannot figure out what it was about this book that made me feel so apathetic towards it. All that I can say is that me and this book? We do not vibe. It’s not for me.
If it seems like it might be for you—pick it up! Give it a shot! I know people who really enjoyed it. But I am officially DNFing this book. Life is too short to force yourself to read something you’re not enjoying.
