First, I love the cover of this novel. It's adorable and fits well with the story line. I love the family relationships that were made prominent right from the beginning in the Granados family. The introduction of fate and destiny was an enchanting touch to the magical realism in the story line, where Ava is struggling with missing the passing of her Nana and Nana's blessing to her.

I really love the writing style, and I'm thoroughly impressed by this author's voice for her characters in the story. I really loved how much the author spoke in a young adult's voice too. I remember when I was a young adult, and it was always disheartening to read a novel that sounded like an old man wrote it - she definitely captures the lingo and feelings of a 17-year-old young woman.

Super excited to continue on with this story!
