Wow this is unexpectedly amazing
When I started this book, I wasn't sure if it was going to be for me, but I ended up loving it. Daunis is an amazing and intelligent character. She's methodical and caring. She's a young woman who grew up trying to find her place in the world. Half white and half native, but white passing, and she also loves playing hockey.
There are quite a few triggering moments Daunis had to deal with from witnessing a murder to sexual assault. All things taking a toll on her mental health, but she takes on a role as an informant - to look into the murder of her friend, why drugs are running rampant among her hometown affecting her friends and family. Also, a little romance with the new hockey player, Jaime.
Not all is what it seems as Daunis tries to make sense of who and why. As the story unravels, so does truths and all is not what it seems.
This book is so, so good. I highly recommend it.
